SMYRNA - William George Morris passed away on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at his home. Mr. Morris was born Nov. 16, 1939 in Townsend, the son of the late William Lawrence and Beatrice P. Morris-Webbert. He retired as a Supervisor for Asplundh Tree Expert Co. in Wilmington, DE. He then briefly had his own business with his 2 sons, Morris Tree Service. William liked watching wrestling and was a NASCAR fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He enjoyed cooking and gardening and liked to spend time with his grandchildren. He loved old country music, especially George Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Marie Morris; his brother, Donald Lawrence; a son, William H. Morris, Sr.; three grandchildren, Medford Morris, Matthew Morris, and April Lister. He is survived by two sons, Mark G. Morris, Sr., and William J. Morris and his fiancée Jennifer, both of Dover; two daughters, Lillian E. Morris of Smyrna, and Alice Marie Stevens and her husband Barry of Ridgely, Md,; a brother, Ernest Webbert and his wife Erma of Clayton; his sister, Barbara Burris and her husband James, Sr., of Sudlersville, Md,; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four daughter-in-laws, Melissa Powell, Helen Morris, Millie Janson, and Vickie Morris; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna, DE. Funeral services will begin at noon. Burial will follow at Delaney Church Cemetery in Clayton, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Alzheimer's Association Delaware Chapter, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
