DEWEY BEACH - William "Bill" E. Wright, longtime resident of Dewey Beach and recently Kings Creek, Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, April 16, 2007, in his home. He was 64.
Mr. Wright was born Oct. 22, 1942, son of Superior Court Judge Caleb and Katherine McAfee Wright.
He graduated from the University of Delaware and obtained his doctor of law from the University of North Carolina.
Mr. Wright served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and returned to work as a prosecutor in the Wilmington attorney general's office. He was part of the law firm of Terry, Terry, Spence and Wright and later became a sole practitioner when partner Max Terry was appointed to the bench as a judge. He practiced law locally and was the first town attorney for Dewey Beach when it was incorporated in 1981.
In addition to being active in local affairs, he was a past president of the Dewey Beach Lions Club and was treasurer for the Bill Lee for Governor campaign.
Mr. Wright enjoyed boating, spending time with his wife and their many friends. He especially loved playing with his grandchildren and will be remembered for his humor and honesty. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Wright; his three children, Andrew Wright, Joanna White and Tory Wright; his brothers, Thomas Wright and Scott Wright; a sister, Victoria Wright; grandchildren, Madison Wright and Emily Wright, Caleb White and Eloise White-Ramon.
