CHESTERTOWN, MD - William Dudley Schelts passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2022 at University of Maryland Easton.
William D. Schelts was born June 12, 1938 at home in Chesterville, MD, the son of the late William U. Schelts and Beulah "Glanding" Schelts. After graduating from Galena High School Mr. Schelts worked on a farm milking and realized the farm life was not for him. He went into business for himself as a handyman/carpenter and was still working into his 80's All through his life he loved music and played guitar for several bands over the years. Mr. Schelts played music locally and volunteered to play during the holidays at a variety of places. He also enjoyed gardening, growing pole beans and loved his pets.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by one son, Charles "Butchy" Schelts; one sister, Elva Jean Embert; and his life partner, Delphia Gilley.
He is survived by his brother, Charles "Chummy" Schelts (Betty Jane) of Millington, MD; four nephews, Cliff Embert of Greensboro, MD, Paul Embert (Sherry) of Dover, DE, Kenny Embert (Betty Jo) of Millington, MD, Eddie Schelts (Bonnie) of Millington, MD; one grandson, one step- grandson both are in DE; one step daughter, Gail Trovitvh and one step granddaughter both are in PA.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm at Fellows Family Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St., Millington, where a service will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 at 2pm. Burial will follow the services in Sudlersville Cemetery in Sudlersville, MD.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to Holden's Chapel, 1126 Dudley Corners Rd., Millington, MD 21651 or to your local SPCA.
