MILTON - William David Long, a resident of Milton since 2002, formerly of West Chester, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, in his home. He was 54. He was born in El Paso, Texas. Before becoming disabled in 2001, he worked for Boeing Helicopter in Ridley Park, Pa., for 30 years. He was a member of the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540, H.O.G., Harley Owners Group, and the American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro. He enjoyed riding his Harley, surf fishing and boating, but mostly enjoyed being with his family and his dog, Bitsie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Irene Weir Long. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lois Gardner Long; children, David William Long and his wife Lauren of Coatesville, Pa., Joan King and husband Mark of Grapevine, Texas and John Worrilow and his wife Shirley of Earlsville, Md.; grandchildren, Julian Suero, Xavier Long, Katlyn Worrilow and Dilan Worrilow; two brothers, Robert Edward Long and his wife Barbara of Folcroft, Pa., and John Steven Long and his wife Diane of Haddonfield, N.J.; and several nieces. Funeral services will be held noon Saturday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 31038 Country Garden Boulevard, Suite D2, Country Gardens, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
