Willard A. Sielaff

DOVER - Willard (Bud) A. Sielaff, Sr. of Dover, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Capitol Nursing Home.
Mr. Sielaff was born Jan. 12, 1921 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Louis W. Sielaff and Wilhelmina Wickboldt Sielaff.
He was a veteran of World War II having proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945. Mr. Sielaff retired in 1986 from ColorTile as a Freight Traffic Coordinator. He enjoyed bowling, music and the outdoors. Mr. Sielaff was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Dover. Throughout his life he was very active in many church functions, including Sunday school, Choir, church boards and other activities. He was instrumental in the design and building of the Lutheran Church High School in Baltimore and was an active participant in its conception and initial operation.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothea Brieschke and LaVergne Karner.
He is survived by his wife of 71 ½ years, Anna Geiger Sielaff of Dover; son, Willard (Bud) A. Sielaff, Jr. (wife Carol) of Wallingford, Conn.; daughters, Ruth Hewlett (late husband Robert) of Elkton, Md. and Lois Houston (husband Sam) of Mineral, Va.; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 425 N. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be private.
