HARTLY - Wendy L. Demby, of Hartly, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2009, with her loving family at her side. She was 52. She was born in East Hempfield of Lancaster County, Pa., on Jan. 10, 1957. Wendy received her formal education from Hempfield High School from where she is a 1977 graduate. She worked as a business office manager for an insurance company wherein a job transfer brought her to Delaware in 1990. In 1991, Wendy met and married her husband, Don Demby. In 1994, their son, Joseph was born and she finally had the job she loved the most - being a full-time mom. Until fall of 2008, Wendy worked part-time as a caregiver specializing in providing in-home care and support for the elderly and disabled. She was recently looking forward to returning to a career in office administration as well as continuing to work as a caregiver. In addition to being a mom, Wendy most enjoyed spending time with her family in her Hartly home where she hosted cookouts and gatherings with family and friends. Her favorite TV shows were Survivor, Big Brother and Hell's Kitchen. She enjoyed participating and volunteering in her son's school events. Christmas was Wendy's favorite holiday wherein she liked adopting families in need, making certain that the children feel loved, important and special. She would bake and give massive trays of delicious cookies every year. Wendy L. Demby, a selfless and giving lady, will be loved and missed by her beloved husband, Don Demby, her son, Joseph Demby, both of Hartly, and her stepson, Christopher Demby of Milford. Also mourning her loss will be several nieces, nephews, family members and friends local to Delaware, as well as many in Pennsylvania including her beloved nephew, Jimmy Barrett. A private remembrance ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association are encouraged.
