Wendell Holmes Taylor Jr.

SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - Wendell Holmes Taylor Jr., of Sudlersville, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at his home. He was 87. Mr. Taylor was born April 19, 1924, in Chestertown, Md., the son of the late Wendell Homes Taylor Sr. and Susan "Benton" Taylor. Mr. Taylor served his country in the United States Army and served in WWII and received a purple heart from his service in the Phillipeans. After an honorable discharge he went to work as a self employed auto body repairman. He was a member of the Millington VFW Post 652. He enjoyed working on antique cars, tinkering with machinery, crabbing and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Mullens Taylor; and two brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Donna Marie Taylor Wysopal and husband Kevin of Dover, Sandra Louise Taylor of Elkton, Md.; two sons, Donald H. Taylor and wife Rose Marie of Hartley, Michael H. Taylor of Sudlersville, Md.; two brothers, Lawrence Taylor of Tolchester, Md., Robert Green of Chestertown, Md.; three grandchildren, Laurie Walters of Dover, Carrie Marie Taylor and husband William Johnson of Cheswald, Tanya Marie Taylor of Hartley; and ten great-grandchildren, Lisa Marie Walters, Olivia Walters, Andrea' Williams, Jordon Walters, Andre' Williams, William Johnson "JT", William D. Johnson "William", Erika Johnson, Jesse James Taylor, Jasmine Taylor; and one great-great-grandchild, Malik Walters. A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St., Millington, Md.
