Webster Louis 'Web' Pettyjohn, 80

MILFORD - Webster Louis "Web" Pettyjohn of Milford died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, of natural causes, in his home. He was 80.

He was born in Lincoln, the third child of Louis Raymond Pettyjohn and Edith Rose Pettyjohn.

Mr. Pettyjohn attended school in Lincoln and Milford until 1955, when he joined the U.S. Air Force and entered into food service.

He was well known for cooking and serving many five star generals.

In 1961, Mr. Pettyjohn entered into the Missile Squadron until 1966, when he began a career in the Space and Missile Systems Organization for the U.S. Air Force. In 1974, he retired from the service as a C-5 mechanic.

During his time in the military, he met and wed Yvonne Montgomery in 1965.

After retiring from the military, Mr. Pettyjohn decided to separate from his wife and sought a career in Philadelphia as a truck driver, which he loved for many years.

In 1976, he met and began a relationship with Bessie Lewis.

He then moved to Lincoln, where he worked various jobs that complemented his personality.

He was a baker and avid automobile mechanic.

He was preceded in death by Geneva Pettyjohn, Ella Mae Pettyjohn Morris, Wesley Pettyjohn and Raymond Pettyjohn.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Pettyjohn; five sons, Kevin Pettyjohn, Jeffery Pettyjohn, Sylvester Pettyjohn, Omar Pettyjohn and Justin Pettyjohn and his wife Sarina; one daughter, Katelyn Pettyjohn; two sisters, Corinda Pettyjohn and Rebecca Butler of New Castle County; one brother, Daniel Pettyjohn and his wife Ollie Pettyjohn of Philadelphia; and his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Burial will be private.

The Rev. Frank Silver will officiate.

Arrangements by Young & McPherson Funeral Home, Milford.
