DOVER - Wayne Stanley went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 30, 2017 with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Jersey City, and raised in Hoboken, N.J., Wayne moved to Dover in 2003 to enjoy retirement with his wife after a 40-year carrier as a longshoreman and teamster retiring from the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.
Wayne had a love and passion for music which lead to a very successful pursuit as a Club DJ for 40 years. He was also an avid singer and loved the music of the 50s and 60s. Wayne was a longtime member of Dover Elks Lodge # 1903 and was currently the Exalted Ruler. He dedicated his time and talents selflessly to the lodge and exemplified their motto "Elks Care - Elks Share". His presence as a volunteer could be seen in all aspects of the lodge. He will be sadly missed. He was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church and met some wonderful, caring people there.
Wayne was predeceased by his mother, Dolores Stanley (Slezak); his father, Lucius Stanley; an infant son, Robert Wayne; sister-in-law, Maureen Cassidy; brother-in-law, John Cassidy.
He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 37 years, Patricia (Patti); sisters, Starr (Edward) White, and Kelly (Steve) Leone; mother-in-law, Joan McTigue; brothers-in-law, Michael McTigue (Lorraine), and John McTigue (Cindy); nephews and nieces, Shawn Stanley (Amy), Jennifer Mastropetro (David), Megan White, Edward White, Lauren Leone,Steven Leone, Sean McTigue (Jennifer), Steven Cassidy (Maria), Patrick Cassidy (Ashley); several great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. Special Thanks to Bill and Elaine Englert and Helen and Ed Bonsall.
A viewing will be held 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 p.m., Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Burial will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, N.J.
