SNELLVILLE, Ga. - Walter J. Kuhling of Snellville died Sunday, May 20, 2007, after a gallant battle with cancer. He was 60.
Walter was born Oct. 11, 1946, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Walter Werner and Martha (Lemp) Kuhling.
He served in the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of staff sergeant.
Walter was a finance director for the AGCO Corp., and had been with the company for over 30 years.
He loved being an American and was a huge history buff. When vacationing, he enjoyed visiting historic sites. He visited the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln and many other presidents.
Walter was a devoted and active member of Cannon United Methodist Church and gained great joy from serving his fellow man.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, M. Glyn Kuhling; five children, Mary and her husband Richard Gray of Jonesborough, Tenn., Jack Harrell and his wife Tricia of Lawrenceville, Kelley and her husband Ryan Edwards of Lawrenceville, Kim and her husband Matt Smith of Bethlehem, and Scott Kuhling of Snellville; seven grandchildren, Jordan Gray, Zachary Gray, Natalie Harrell, Olivia Edwards, Troy Coley Harrell, Ella Gray and Troy Alexander Smith; four brothers, William and Sue Kuhling of Loveland, Colo., Artie Kuhling of Perry Hall, Md., Edward and Linda Kuhling of Bridgeville, Del., and Robert and Sue Kuhling of Felton, Del.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life memorial service, with military honors, will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Cannon United Methodist Church, 2424 Webb Ginn House Road, Snellville, with the Rev. Glenn Ethridge and the Rev. Amy Morgan officiating. Interment will be private in the Snellville Historical Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the St. Jude Children"s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in Memory of Walter J. Kuhling.
