Walter F. Jarman, 84

DOVER - Walter F. Jarman of Dover passed away at home on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84.

Born in Dover, he was the son of the late Ward and Clara Bostick Jarman.

He was a lifelong resident of Delaware and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He retired from Hoober Equipment in Middletown in 1998 where he was a farm machinery mechanic.

He was known to be the best hay baler repairperson in Delaware.

Mr. Jarman enjoyed planting a large garden each year and would give half of it away.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Noble and Clinton; two sisters, Dorcas Peet and Betty Heinold; and a stepson, Richard Moore.

Walter is survived by his wife, Ruth Isabel Attix Jarman; five stepchildren, Shirley Kunkel and her husband, Doug of Dover, who cared for him during his illness, Nancy Morris and her husband, Richard of Wilmington, Doris Ann Wirt and her husband, Bill of Wilmington, N.C., Linda Pauley and her husband, Cody of Marion, Texas and Karen Vannoy and Ernie Skaggs of Smyrna; three brothers, Bernard of Maine and his wife, Stell, William of Dover and his wife, Margaret and Kline of Hartly and his wife, Edith; two sisters, Edith Rash of Dover and Myrtle McClements and her husband, Lawrence of Clayton; 11 grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St. Smyrna, where friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. and one hour before the services Tuesday.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Instead of flowers, the family has suggested contributions to the Blood Bank of Delmarva, 100 Hygenia Drive, Newark DE 19713; or to the Leukemia Society or Leukemia/Lymphoma Society/ Delaware Chapter 100 W. 10th St., Suite 102, Wilmington, DE 19801, for patient services in memory of Walter F. Jarman.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 S. Main St.. Smyrna.
