CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Walter Eldsworth Ford of Chestertown died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, after a short stay in Chester River Manor Nursing Home, Chestertown. He was 56.
Mr. Ford was born May 28, 1950, in Georgetown, son of Christine (Hopkins) Ford and the late Walter Harry Ford.
He was educated in the Kent County school system, graduating in 1968.
After high school, Mr. Ford worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. He later was employed by Bethlehem Steel Co., Baltimore, as a supervisor.
His hobbies were basketball and gardening. He was also an avid book reader.
Mr. Ford accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior under the ministry of his aunt, the Rev. Violet Hopkins-Tann. While residing in North Carolina, he witnessed to many young people concerning the necessity of taking care of their bodies and living a good life. His favorite hymn and scripture was "Precious Lord" and Psalm 23.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Ford of Georgetown; his wife whom he married Nov. 16, 1973, Nora L. Ford of Virginia; a son, Kevin L. Ford of Baltimore; a granddaughter, Kearna Lamya Ford; his mother-in-law, Anthia Lee; a brother, Steven A. Ford of Baltimore; a niece, Tamara Ford; a nephew, Steven Ford Jr.; 11 aunts, three uncles; two brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; a special cousin, Raymond Jones Jr.; and numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
Services will be noon today in Asbury United Methodist Church, Georgetown, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Lawrence Purnell will officiate.
