MILFORD - Walter Carl Stratman, Jr. of Milford passed away on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 76. Mr. Stratman was born in Milford, the son of the late Walter Carl, Sr. and Ethel (Masten) Stratman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a security guard for Sussex County for 15 years. He enjoyed watching westerns, taking care of plants, loved dogs and had 2 birds, Bill and Veronica. He was fascinated with riverboats, but most of all he loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Donald Stratman. He is survived by is wife of 37 years, Linda "Liebrand" Stratman; his children, Charlotte McClain of Alabama, Jackie Stratman of Magnolia, Walter Carl Stratman, III of Pennsylvania, Carolyn Smith of Laurel, Brenda Griffith of Houston, Linda Heesh of Milford, Jammie Stratman of Pennsylvania, Richard Stratman of Magnolia and Robert Stratman of Milford; one sister, Mary Ann Stratman of Seaford; one brother, Edward Stratman of Lincoln; and 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four stepchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
