DOVER - Wallace Alfonso Waite Sr., went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Wallace was born to the late Stanislaus Mortimer "Stanley" Waite and Maria Runcie Waite, Oct. 07, 1933 in Kingston, Jamaica. After the untimely death of his mother in 1936, he was raised by his loving and devoted stepmother, the late Doris Kathleen Golding Waite. In1952, Wallace enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as an Air Craft Mechanic. Completing 20 years of dedicated service, Wallace retired as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force. In 1975, Wallace founded the non-profit agency, Delaware Disadvantaged Foundation, Inc., (D.D.F.) which helped ex-offenders, the jobless, and economically disadvantaged. D.D.F. facilitated a G.E.D. program, C.D.L. truck driving school and an upholstery school. The foundation also provided clothing, temporary shelter, and emergency aid to the disadvantaged of the community. To motivate, educate and empower the youth D.D.F. sponsored the award winning Diamond State Drill Team. Wallace was a lifetime member of the N.A.A.C.P, a lifetime member of the American Legion, and a member of the Delaware Re-Entry Consortium. He was a recipient of the Village Merit Award, award recipient at the President Jimmy Carter White House Conference on Small Business, and a Chaplain for Bay Health Medical Centers. Wallace also helped to facilitate the building and location of the Disabled American Veterans in Camden-Wyoming. Wallace was preceded in death by his brother, Lowell Oswald "Ozzie" Waite; and his son, Ronald W. "Man" Trotman. Wallace is survived by his wife of 30 years, Charlotte "ChaBa" Waite; sister, Norma McCloud; his sons, Wallace Waite Jr., Stanley Waite and Fred Trotman Jr.; his daughters, Doretha Cannon, Paulette Winkfield, Cinia Willis and Rolanda Trotman; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Viewing for Wallace will be on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Congo Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm 201 N. Gray Ave. Wilmington, DE 19805. Military Memorial Service on Thursday, Sept. 22, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery from 2 to 2:30 pm 2456 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701. Limited seating is available for the viewing and the military memorial service. The repast will be after the Military Memorial Service from 3 to 5 pm at Atterbury V.F.W. 649 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702
