Virginia Jump Metz, 90
MAGNOLIA - Virginia Jump Metz of Magnolia died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, in her home. She was 90.
Mrs. Metz was born June 1, 1916, in Wyoming, daughter of the late J. Temple Jump Sr. and Ethel Emerson Jump.
She attended Caesar Rodney School and farmed with her husband, James S. Metz, whom she married Nov. 11, 1932. They were happily married for 71 years.
Mrs. Metz was a 4-H leader in the 50s, a member of Rising Sun Community Club for more than 50 years and a member of Magnolia Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Metz in November 2003; her granddaughter, Kristin Metz in January 1993; a brother, Temple Jump in October 2003; two sisters, Beatrice Townsend in September 2004 and Grace Knotts in October 2004; and a son-in-law, Ollin R. Sunday in January 2007.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, J. David and Carol Metz of Myersville, Md., William and Gail Metz of Magnolia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Virginia and Kenneth Brown of Virginia Beach, Va. and Cynthia Sunday of Altoona, Fla.; a sister, Ruth Walker of Woodside; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Jump and Agnes Metz; 14 grandchildren, Terry Sunday, Linda Bellotti, Cindy Fishwick, Brenda Van Valkenburg, Deborah Brown, Pam Maroon, Laurie Mustin, Vicki Burnett, Michael Brown, Erik Metz, Michelle Metz, Jennifer Metz, Kendall Metz and Konner Metz; two stepgrandchildren, Brian and Michael Carr; 16 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Magnolia United Methodist Church, 39 N. Main St., Magnolia, DE 19962; or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
