BURKE, Va. - Virginia Gail White Hall, 76, of Burke, Va., passed into Heaven on her birthday Nov. 23, 2011, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, following a stroke at home. Gail was predeceased by her parents, Willard H. and Virginia M. White of Milton; her husband of 25 years, Lt. Col. Arthur J. Hall, formerly of Millsboro; and her sister, Joan C. White of Milton. She was the loving mother of three children, Lynn Akbar and Gwen Pangle Jergo of Leesburg, Va., and Arthur J. (A.J.) Hall of Fishers, Ind.; the cherished grandmother of Tiffany, Lindsey, David, Stephen, Kristin, Sahra, Shannon, and Jamie; the great-grandmother of Ryenn, Dylan, Jadyn, Delaney, and Teague, all of Leesburg, Va.; the dear sister of James J. White; and the adored aunt of Yvonne C. White of Milford. Gail grew up on the family dairy and grain farm new White's Chapel where she shared many chores and learned the meaning of hard work and perseverance. She graduated from Lewes High School, class of 1953, where she was active in Student Council, the Honor Society, and the Junior Press Club, which published the monthly school paper. She graduated from Goldey Beacom College, Wilmington, in 1955, and was honored by being crowned Miss Goldey Beacom. After many years as a stay-at-home mom and traveling military wife, she enjoyed working as a secretary at Robinson High School, Fairfax County School District, Fairfax, Va. In this position, she touched the lives of many staff and students, as she also served as friend, colleague, mother, and mentor. Because of her outstanding abilities, she was awarded the prestigious "People's Choice Award" from Fairfax County School District prior to her retirement in 1999. Following retirement, she devoted much of her time fulfilling the physical and spiritual needs of her church and congregation. Those who knew Gail will always remember her unique laugh and sense of humor, her outer and inner beauty, her giving spirit, and her love of the Lord. A graveside service was held Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at noon, in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Church of Apostles, 3500 Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22031.
