DOVER - Virginia D. Bason passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 at her residence. Born Feb. 9, 1922 in Dover, to the late Marion and Emma DuHadaway. Mrs. Bason worked at many Dover area businesses while raising her family and lastly retired from Mellon Bank with fond memories of her working years and especially her colleagues. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clement; and by her daughter, Adele Haugh-Olsen; son-in-law, James Olsen; and son, Randell Bason. She is survived by her sons, Clement D. Bason and his wife, Barbara, of New Castle, and Mark A. Bason and his wife, Kathy, of Dover; daughter, Wanda Sherriff and her husband, Fred, of Chestertown, Md. Also mourning the death of their grandmother are Californians, Colin Haugh and his wife, Angela and great-grandchildren, Anna and Sarah, Renette Rambeau and husband, James, Andrew Sheriff and his wife, Katrina, Clement Bason and his wife, Lauren and great-grandchildren, Daniel, Charlie and Eli. In Arizona she is survived by grandchildren, Ryan Bason and Sarah Bason; great-grandson, Grayson. In Chicago by granddaughter, Amanda Bason. In Delaware, grandchildren, Christopher Bason and his wife, Archer, Kate and her husband, Warren, and great-granddaughter, Ava. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 at Lakeside Cemetery, 558 N. State Street, Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
