Violet Maria Thornley, 80

WYOMING - Violet Maria Thornley, of Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in her home. She was 80. She was born on Aug. 8, 1928, in Dover, daughter of the late Herman and Mildred (Parsons) Radish. Violet had worked as a clerk with both Nichols and W.T. Grant and later enjoyed life as a homemaker. She was a former member of the Rebekkahs. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Edward Radish and a sister, Georgie Rich. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Edward Thornley; three children, Iris Jane Salber and her husband Lee of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Robin Jill Thornley-Koehring and her husband Phil of Dover and Jeffrey Todd Thornley and his wife Vicki of Smyrna; two brothers, Paul Radish of Georgetown and Herman Radish of Huntersville, N.C.; a sister, Myrtle Haines of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren, Susan Tobias of Las Vegas, Nev., April Dibattista of Chicago, Ill., Taylor Thornley and Christopher Thornley both of Smyrna; and three great-grandchildren, Gia, Max and Lily Tobias. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours earlier. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 625, Georgetown, DE 19947 or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
