Viola A. Zapanta, 93 NEWARK - Viola A. Zapanta, died peacefully Wednesday, December 9, 2009. She was 93. Born in the Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Vicente and Macaria Atega. Viola worked as a Registered Nurse in the Philippines until moving to the United States in 1967, where she continued to work until her retirement in 1980. Viola was a member of Holy Cross Church, enjoyed cooking, and cherished the moments spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin; and her son, Benjamin Zapanta Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Emma Donato of Wyoming, Evangeline Simbulan of Camden, and Edith Rodriguez of Cherry Hill, N.J.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Holy Cross Church, Dover. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be sent to The Little Sisters of The Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713. Condolences may be sent and Guest Book signed via www.ambruso.com.
