BRIDGEVILLE - Victor Anthony Pini Jr. of Bridgeville passed away Monday, May 14, 2007, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was 86.
Mr. Pini was born March 20, 1931, in Everett, Mass., son of the late Victor and Julia Pini, immigrants from Italy.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 23 years.
Mr. Pini and his wife, Mary lived many places all over the world, finally retiring in Dover. He then retired from the Sussex County Correctional Institute.
He enjoyed serving coffee at the Bridgeville Fire Co. dinners, reading the latest novels, gardening, grilling and tinkering in the garage.
Mr. Pini was an awesome husband, dad, grandfather and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dinny; and a sister, Virginia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Kopas Pini; a daughter, Vickie Pini of Milford; a daughter and a son-in-law, Maria Pini Denny and Tom Denny of Newark; grandsons, Simon, Danny and Alex; a granddaughter, Julia; a brother, Harold and his wife, Kay of Malden, Mass.; and many friends and co-workers.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael The Archangel, 202 Edward St., Georgetown, with Father Robert Burk, MSA, as Celebrant. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to Mass.
Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 201-A West Dupont Highway, Millsboro, DE 19966; or Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210.
