Verna M. Price

DOVER - Verna M. Price, of Dover, died Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Christiana Care, Newark, Delaware. She was 83. Mrs. Price was born, November 15, 1926, in Princeton, West Virginia, to the late Marvin G. and Betty Weikle Miller. She was a science teacher in W. Va. and Va., before moving to Dover, with her late husband, Hugh "Woody" Price, Jr., in 1965. She taught science in the Capitol School District at Dover Central Middle School until her retirement in 1991 and received her Master's Degree in Education and Instruction from the University of Delaware and the Presidential Science Teacher of the year award, from Ronald Reagan, in 1983. She was a volunteer at Bombay Hook Wildlife area for many years and loved nature. She never stopped teaching. Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Price in 2008. She is survived by three sons, Steve Price and his wife Diana of Dover, Mark Price and his wife Cathy of Smyrna, Kurt Price and his wife Lynn of Smyrna; five grandchildren, Megan, Melody, Ashley, Jim and Katie; and five great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, Downtown, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, DE 19904, where friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening. Interment will be in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions be sent to, "The Friends of Bombay Hook", 2591 White Hall Neck Rd., Smyrna, DE 19977.
