Val Jean (Bartell) Brown, 83

WINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Val Jean (Bartell) Brown of Winfield Township died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, in Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, after a lengthy illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Brown was born March 12, 1923, in Tarentum, daughter of the late James L. and Matilda (Scovern) Bartell.

She was a 1940 graduate of Har-Brack High School and a graduate of West Liberty State College as a dental hygienist.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker, and also worked for the former Credit Bureau of New Kensington for 15 years.

She volunteered at Allegheny Valley Hospital, was a member of the River Forest Women"s Golf League and the Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, and also enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Bartell.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Regis B. Brown; a son and a daughter-in-law, James and Katherine Oddis of Cambridge, Md.; a stepson and his wife, Alan K. and Mary Brown of Brentwood, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Danny Oddis, Beth Ann Jones and her husband Kevin, David Brown and his wife Ashley, Jonathan Brown and Lauren Brown; a great-grandson, Logan Jones; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Jones.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Krynicki Funeral Home, Inc., Natrona Heights.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

The Rev. Matthew Judd will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Harrison Township.
