Thomas (Tommy) Thurston Bessellieu, 61
DOVER - Thomas (Tommy) Thurston Bessellieu passed away at Kent General Hospital in Dover on Friday, March 5, 2021. He was born in the same hospital on July 30, 1959 to Charles and Connie Bessellieu of Frederica. Tommy loved his life. He was known as a loving husband, caring brother and uncle. He was known to many friends and colleagues as "School Boy", he was such a wonderful and loyal friend. He graduated from Lake Forest High School in Felton and Delaware Tech in Georgetown.
Growing up and living in Delaware all of his life, there wasn't any place in the State that he was not recognized. Just like many others, he passed through many season in his life and would often share life experiences with the "kids" at work about keeping their lives on the straight and narrow, and staying out of trouble.
Tommy worked as a State of Delaware employee for the Caesar Rodney School District and was a very committed union leader, prior to retiring due to persistent health challenges. Tommy also served proudly and honorably in the United States Army.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Jacqueline Reyes-Bessellieu, who loved him unconditionally. He is also survived by his older sister, Karen Bessellieu Andrews of Irvine, Calif. Tommy has numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, who will miss him dearly. He had a tight knit relationship with his father in law, brother in law and sister in law.
He will be greatly missed, he is now dancing in heaven, free of sickness, illness and the challenges of his tired earthly body. Although it is hard for those who loved him, this new day for Tommy is reflected in Psalm 30:5 that says, "Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning."
