DENTON - Thomas R. Swann died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Memorial Hospital in Easton, Md. Born at home in Easton, Mr. Swann was the son of the late Issac Reuben Swann and Hilda Mae Schuyler Swann. He was married to his wife, Lois June Stevens Swann of Denton, on December 29, 1956 at the Church of God in Easton. Mr. Swann started farming in Centreville, Md. and bought a farm, 'Calvert Manor' near Denton in 1960. Besides farming, he opened Talbot County Shooting Preserve in 1963 which later moved to Denton and became "Caroline Shooting Preserve". In 1978, he bought his first harness horse and was an owner, trainer, and driver for 34 years, racing at Md., Del., Pa., N.Y., and Va. tracks. Most of all, he enjoyed his family, friends, hunting, horse racing, and farming. In addition to his wife, Lois, he is survived by two sons, Steven D. Swann and his wife Julie of Denton and Donald G. Swann and his wife Laurie of Denton; one daughter, Terri Lynn Lister and her husband Scott of Denton; three brothers, William Lester Swann of Cordova, Paul Elmer Swann of Easton, and Norman Franklin Swann of Easton; two sisters, Evelyn Mae Kilmon of Easton and Peggy Louise Caulk of St. Michaels, six grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth, Steven Michael, Lindsay Brooke, Leah Briane, Elaina Faith, and Kelley Leann; and three great-grandchildren, Keira Faith, Logan Juliann, and Christopher John. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Thomas Swann on Dec. 10, 1959; and two brothers, Robert Earle Swann and Charles Davidson Swann. Funeral services will be 11 a.m Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at the Easton Church of God, 1009 Washington St. N. in Easton where friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery, 24865 Meeting House Road in Denton.
