OGDEN, Kan. - Thomas J. Garver of Ogden, formerly of Galena, Md., died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, in Geary County. He was 27.

Mr. Garver was born Oct. 2, 1979, in Frankfort, Germany. He was raised in Galena.

He was a 1997 graduate of Kent County High School, where he played varsity football.

Following graduation he joined the U.S Army and was honorably discharged in 2002.

He achieved the level of Eagle Scout with Troop 121 of Elkton, Md.

Mr. Garver lived in Kansas for the past three years, where he worked as an arborist for the Brinker Tree Service and was active with the Ogden Youth Program coaching soccer, basketball and baseball. He was actively pursuing his goal of becoming a Kansas State trooper.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willard and Marie Garver and Larry Weaver.

He is survived by a son, Blayne A. Garver of Galena; his father, Douglas Garver and his fiancee, Lucy, of Honey Brook, Pa.; his mother and stepfather, Donna and Tom Walter of Galena; a sister, Michelle Garver of Boston; two brothers, John Walter of Galena and Michael Markward of Modena, Pa.; his grandmother, Dora Lear of Downingtown, Pa.; and his fiancee and her sons, Tammie Millett, Chad Millett and Kyle Millett, all of Ogden.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Earleville, Md.
