CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Thomas Hadaway Robinson of Chestertown died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at his home. He was 86.
Mr. Robinson was born in Chestertown, son of the late Robert Lee and Susie Lee Hadaway Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was a line manager for the C&P Telephone Co. for many years.
Prior to his long career with the telephone company, Mr. Robinson served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, where he received the Bronze Star.
Mr. Robinson spent many years playing and coaching baseball and softball in Kent and Queen Anne"s counties.
On April 6, 2002, Mr. Robinson was honored by being inducted into the Maryland Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame.
His love for sports and youth has always been important as he was one of the founding members of the Kent County Peewee football league.
Mr. Robinson loved to fish and crab and was an avid fox hunter for most of his life.
Most recently, he became interested in horse racing and enjoyed that time as well.
Mr. Robinson was a member of the Frank M. Jarman American Legion Post, Chestertown, and the Chestertown Elks Lodge 2409.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Robinson, in 1992; one brother, Bozy Robinson; and a son-in-law, Michael Leap.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Mills and her husband Herb, and Patricia Leap; and one brother, Ned Robinson, all of Chestertown.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a charity of choice in his memory.
