Thomas Francis Hegarty

CAMDEN - Thomas "Tom" Francis Hegarty, 83, of Camden, formerly a 40 year resident of Bowie, Md., found peace on Jul. 8, 2017, surround by his family.
Tom was born on Oct. 14, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa. and was a graduate of West Catholic High School & Temple University.
He worked as an electrical engineer with AT&T for 34 years in Philadelphia and Washington DC.
Tom served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956, where he earned a National Defense Medal.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus – of the Bowie, Md., Sacred Heart Council, and was the past President of the St. Pius X Parish Council.
Tom was survived by his five children, Kathleen (David) Donaghue, of Lady Lake, Fla., Thomas (Nancy) Hegarty of Greenville, S.C., Joseph (Lisa) Hegarty of Mt. Airy, Md., James (Amy) Hegarty, of Crofton, Md., and Lenore (William) Maydag, of Gambrills, Md.; seven, grandchildren, Grace, Sarah, Ryan, Katelyn, Julie, James and Alison. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine "Cass" Hegarty; his brothers, John, Charles, and Michael; as well as his first grandchild, Joseph.
The family invites friends to a visitation on Thursday, Jul. 13, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Jul. 14, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. in St. Pius X Church 14720 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, MD 20715. With interment to follow in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery - 1122 Sunrise Breach Rd. Crownsville, Md.
