Thomas Burton Sweetman

GOLTS, Md. - Thomas Burton Sweetman, Sr., died at his home in Golts on Thursday, May 4, 2017.
Mr. Sweetman was born Jun. 19, 1940, in Golts, Md., the son of the late Lee Jackson Sweetman, Sr., and Elsie "Powell". Mr. Sweetman attended Galena High School through the 10th grade and at age 21 he married his late wife, Lois. Early on in life he worked for the family logging company. Over the years he also worked for ACME as a meat cutter, Johnson Control and for Dickie Burris on his farm before a work related accident forced him to retire. He later went to work for himself cutting wood for many years. Mr. Sweetman was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Cecil County Coon Hunters Club. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, watching westerns and coaching little league. He loved to go dancing with his wife every Saturday night and also enjoyed shooting pool and bowling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ann Sweetman in 2016.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Sweetman, Jr. (Joyce), of Elkton, Md., Tammy Bramble (Jack), of Earlville, Md., Charlotte Heverin (Gary), of Golts, Md., William Sweetman Sr. (Lorri), of Middletown; six sisters, Madeline Joines, of Townsend, Shirley Doll, of Galena, Md., Dottie Pitcher, of Townsend, Betty Clough, of Earlville, Md., Kathy Sweetman, of Dover, Debbie Lewis, of Golts, Md.; two brothers, William Sweetman, of Golts, Md., Gene Sweetman, of Golts, Md.; nine grandchildren, John Bramble, Heather Bramble, Thomas Sweetman, III , Christina Sweetman, Katie Heverin, William Sweetman, Jr., Brittany Heverin, Amber Sweetman, and Brandi Sweetman; and six great-grandchildren, Conor, Sean, Brandon, David, Carolynn and Kabella.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Fellows Family Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St., Millington, Md. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the National Wild Turkey Federation P.O. Box 530, Edgefield, SC 29824-0530
