Thomas A. Purnell, 77

WYOMING - Thomas A. Purnell of Wyoming died Friday, May 18, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 77.

He was born Jan. 26, 1930, in Frederica, son of the late Thomas and Blanche (Alexander) Purnell.

Thomas served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy.

He worked as an independent insurance agent for Franklin Life Insurance Co.

Thomas enjoyed model trains and was an avid golfer.

He was a member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church and the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce, where he was involved in the membership program. He was also a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge, the Dover Elks and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Harriett (Case) Purnell; two sisters-in-law, Ann Ropka of Frederica, and Margaret Brittingham and her husband Donald of Milford; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour before services.

The Rev. Patti Collett will officiate.

Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
