EAST NEW MARKET, Md. - Theresa Ann Crowley of East New Market died Thursday, March 15, 2007, in Dorchester General Hospital after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was 70.

Mrs. Crowley was born July 10, 1931, in Marquette, Mich., daughter of the late Charles E. Johnson and Annie Theresa Forsberg Johnson.

She was a 1948 graduate of Marquette High School. She attended the University of Indiana where she met her future husband. In 1950 she became a dental assistant for Dr. Ferling for many years in Elkhart, Ind.

On Oct. 13, 1956, she married Robert E. "Bob" Crowley. He died Oct. 20, 2006. Upon having three daughters, she remained a housewife until she became a licensed practical nurse in 1971. For 28 years, she worked at Dorchester General Hospital and Memorial Hospital at Easton retiring in 1999.

Ann, as she was mostly known, was a shopper at heart looking for bargains. She liked refinishing furniture, gardening, cooking, swimming, going to the beach and taking trips to Florida. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Ann was a wonderful loving and caring mother and grandmother.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sheila and J.T. North of Cambridge, Susan and David M. Whigham of Ocean City and Julie Mowery of Cambridge; seven grandchildren, Tyler North, Trevor North, David C. Whigham, Bethany Whigham, Victoria Whigham, Alison Mowery and Gavin Mowery; two nephews, Scott Robare of Michigan and Jay Robare of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two great-nephews, Zach Robare and Josh Robare; and her caregiver and friend, Carolyn Sampson of Cambridge.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Anthony P. "Tony" Mowery who died three hours prior to her; and her sister and brother-in-law, Maryann and Don Robare.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today in Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., where friends may call two hours earlier.

The Rev. Walter E. Reuschling will officiate.

A private burial will be at a later date in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock.
