Thelma Mae (Simpler) Rickards, 87

BURNS, Tenn. - Thelma Mae (Simpler) Rickards of Burns, formerly of Seaford and Laurel, Del., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, in her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Rickards was born June 25, 1919, in Lewes, Del., daughter of the late Theodore and Edith (Dorman) Simpler.

She enjoyed traveling and crafts.

Before moving to Tennessee to live with her daughter, Mrs. Rickards was a member of St. John"s United Methodist Church of Seaford, the Acorn Club and AARP; past president and treasurer of the PTA for the former Blades Elementary School; past member of United Methodist Women, Rebecka Circle leader and past treasurer.

She is survived by her two daughters, Suesann Rickards and Joan R. Brown and her husband William H. Brown Jr.; and a granddaughter, Christine M. Brown.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. Fourth St., Lewes, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Jack Cohen will officiate.

Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
