Thaddeus W. Hollis Jr., 88

MILFORD - Thaddeus W. Hollis Jr. of Milford died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, in the Milford Center, Genesis Eldercare. He was 88.

Mr. Hollis was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Wilmington, son of the late Thaddeus W. and Sarah (Harrington) Hollis Sr.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, Mr. Hollis was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed on Dec. 7, 1941.

Mr. Hollis was a manager for Wharton and Barnard, Milford, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1980.

He enjoyed bowling in the leagues at Milford Bowling Lanes, fishing and hunting. He was also quite the handyman, often tinkering on and fixing things.

Mr. Hollis was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Organization and American Legion Post 3, Milford.

He is survived by two daughters, Alicia Hollis and Tina Hollis, both of Milford; two sons and two daughters-in-law, James and Terry Hollis of Georgetown and Thomas and Diane Hollis of Felton; a sister and a brother-in-law, Norma and David Sills of Milford; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.

The Rev. Bruce D. Points Sr. will officiate.

Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, N. Walnut St.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Chapter, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
