MILFORD - Terrie Vonya Young of Milford went home peacefully to be with her heavenly Father, surrounded by her family, on Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 50.
Mrs. Young was born Dec. 14, 1957.
She received her education in the Milford Public School District.
Mrs. Young was a bus driver for the school district and also held various jobs in Milford.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Milton Young, and was blessed with three children.
In her earlier years, Mrs. Young attended Mt. Enon Baptist Church, Milford, and several other churches before joining Jesus Love Temple under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Smith.
She was an exceptional, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and a magnificent friend.
Mrs. Young was a walker and never met a stranger because she had the gift of gab. She always wore a smile and had a special talent of telling one like it was and always ending it with, "Just give it to God - he'll fix it."
Through her illness, she never complained. She said that if God didn't heal her body so that she could testify of her healing, that was alright because God was in control and he was going to work it out. So she had to let go and let God's will be done.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Shirley (Campbell) Short.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 32 years, Milton Young of Milford; three daughters, Tanesia, Tykema and Shanay Short, all of Milford; one devoted sister, Robin Kaigler of Macon, Ga.; a niece, Adrian Kaigler, and nephew, Gary Kaigler, both of Macon; two great-nieces, Jaylan and Ashly, both of Macon; two great-nephews, Joshua and Jordan, both of Macon; her dad, Fred Short (wife Susanne); her father, Leonard Drummond (wife Mary); two stepdaughters, Sherry Shorter of Lakewood, N.J., and Valarie Calhoun of Freehold, N.J.; two stepbrothers, Devon Drummond of Dover and Galon Drummond of Slaughter Neck; one aunt, Margaret Evans of Smyrna; 10 grandchildren, Jhléa, Iesha, Gordon, Erion, Shaunesia and Khi, all of Milford, and Daishia, Daiquian, Siaisia and Myking, all of Freehold; one great-granddaughter, Avaya Calhoun of Freehold; seven sisters-in-law, Sadie Labeet of Lakewood, Mary Reed of Atlanta, Aanneta Spence of Baltimore, Bridgette Sauls of Millsboro, Gwen Young of Dover, Hilda Northern of Seaford and Mabel Jones of Ellendale; one brother-in-law, Frederick Young of Accomac, Va.; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the Jesus Love Temple, 106 Walnut St., Milford, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Milford.
