Sylvia V. Latourette

CAMDEN - Sylvia V. Latourette passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Mrs. Latourette was born Jan. 29, 1927 in Export, Pennsylvania to the late Emanuel Petro Viola and Teresa Cain Viola. She worked as a secretary for Civil Service for the United States Government until starting her family. Mrs. Latourette was a member of the Peoples Church of Dover, where she was the church clerk for a year. She was on the board of Mission and Out Reach as well as the Board of Diaconate. Mrs. Latourette was also a telephone chairperson and then treasurer for 6 years. She was a member of Christian Women's Club of Dover. She was on the fund drive committee for 7 years for the YMCA. Mrs. Latourette enjoyed sewing, cooking, square-dancing and swimming at the YMCA. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her fur babies Jasper, Bailey, Sidney and Baker, who gave her comfort and great joy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Frank R. Latourette, 1998, son, Rick A. Latourette, 2001; daughters, Terri A. Latourette, 2015, Linda Sue Cobb, 1977; brother, Emmanuel Petro Viola and sister, Virginia Churchfield. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie Latourette of Dover; grandchildren, Michelle L. Cobb, Kimberly Thompson and Katelyn Latourette; great-grandchild, Brooke Amber Cobb. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Peoples Church of Dover, 46 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
