Stephen W. 'Rambo' Spearin, 77
SEAFORD - Stephen W. "Rambo" Spearin, of Seaford, died on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was 77. Mr. Spearin retired from the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy he was an aviation ordnance man, on the underwater demolition team, the EOD (Explosive Ordinance Detail) and a paratrooper. After his retirement from the navy he worked in civil service in Virginia Beach, Va., then was a supervisor at W. O. Covey Foods in Seaford. Steve was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the Nanticoke Sportsman Club all in Seaford and the NRA (National Rifle Association) and the US Fleet Reserve. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gail Covey Spearin; his children, Debbie Tyndall and her husband Lee of Laurel, Vonda Calhoun Shahan and her husband Mike of Seaford, Teresa Tebbens and her husband Bob of Seaford and Darren Wroten and his fiancée Jenni Warrell of Seaford; a brother, Dave Spearin and his wife Shirley of Bel Air, Md.; and grandchildren, Brittany Calhoun, Brooks Tyndall, Matt Tyndall, Kayla Wroten, Donna Lee and Tanner Warrell. Funeral Services were Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford. Burial will be on Jan. 14, 2009, at 2 p.m. in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19106.
