Alexander, Jr., 78 DOVER – Stephen Ross Alexander, Jr. passed away on Aug. 6, 2012, at his home. He was the son of Virginia Bell Alexander and Stephen Ross Alexander, Sr. and was born in New York. He shared 54 wonderful years of marriage to Gail Esselborn Alexander. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Stephen Robert Alexander and Nancy Lev Alexander of Baltimore, Md., Scott Ross Alexander and Kathleen McHugh Alexander of Hockessin, Del., Susan Gail Onufrovich and Nicholas Martin Onufrovich of Magnolia, Del., and Ross Andrew Stone Alexander and Jennifer Hitzig Alexander of Bear, Del. Mr. Alexander deeply loved his children, their spouses and his seven grandchildren, Victoria G. Alexander, Rebecca B. Alexander, Scott R. Alexander Jr., Alexandra B. Onufrovich, Robert R. Onufrovich, Ross A.S. Alexander, Jr. and Lorelei I. Alexander. Mr. Alexander earned his undergraduate and graduate business degrees from Wagner College and attained a graduate degree from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. Mr. Alexander worked in banking for 36 years retiring from Chase Manhattan Bank as an executive vice president. He served in the Army and the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1966 in both Antiaircraft/Artillery and in Armor. Mr. Alexander was an active member of Wyoming United Methodist Church, Wyoming, Delaware for many years, having served on a number of committees and council. Mr. Alexander was a founding, charter member of the Caesar Rodney Chapter, Delaware Society Sons of the American Revolution. He served as the Chapter President, Treasurer, Secretary and Historian over the years. He was proud of his Revolutionary War ancestors and proud of the goals and achievements of the SAR. He loved American history. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug., 9, 2012 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at Wyoming United Methodist Church, 216 Wyoming Mill Road, Dover. Burial will follow at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund, Wyoming United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 389, Camden-Wyoming, DE 19934-0389.
