Felton - Stephen Latocha passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at home. Stephen was born in Chester, Pa., the son of the late Stephen A. and Anna Symanski Latocha.
After high school, Steve served in the Air Force. For over 20 years he worked as an oil barge captain on the east coast. He also worked in the Highway Department of DelDOT. He went back to his love of fishing and worked as a commercial fisherman and crabber until his retirement.
Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He was often found at Frenchie's Dock talking with his buddies. He was always entertaining people with stories about his various experiences. He often enjoyed a day out at the slots.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen, Jr.; and a sister, Stella Leitzell.
Steve is survived by his wife of 55 years, Penny Latocha of Felton; daughters, Loretta Way and her husband John of Dover, Sharon Latocha and her husband Patrick Wlaschin of Placitas, N.M.; brother, Matthew Latocha and his wife Louise of Middletown; sisters, Frances Skinner of Linwood, Pa. and Annamay Decker and her husband Kenneth of Dover. He is also survived by two grandsons, Michael Walla and Thomas Walla of Hartly.
A graveside service will be held at Barratts Chapel Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018. Family and friends may attend, casual attire is welcome. A reception will be held immediately after the service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Old North Road, Camden (across from Caesar Rodney High School). Those not attending the service may join the reception at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend thanks to VITAS Hospice and all the medical staff that took care of Stephen the last several months.
