Stephanie H. Doremus Johnson, 69
DOWNS CHAPEL, DE - Stephanie H. Doremus Johnson of passed away on January 19, 2024. The daughter of Howard H. "Toby" and Jan P. Doremus; she was born in Nassawadox, VA on May 17, 1954.
Although she lived in Delaware for over fifty years, she loved her Virginia relatives and the towns of the Eastern Shore.
Besides her parents and father-in-law, Lester E. Johnson Sr., she was proceeded in passing by her brother, Sean Doremus who because of physical disabilities relied on his older sister to provide him with the care he needed. That was the foundation of the career that would define her. Working in a factory and training men who got better pay because of their gender inspired her to pursue her true calling; In 1987 at the age of 33 she went to college and in 1992 graduated with an Associate's Degree in Nursing. For the next 27 years she worked as an R.N., 17 years at Urology Assoc. of Dover. Stephanie was a "NURSE" in every way to patients of professional medical entities, to family, friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her husband, John; the families of her sons, Jeffrey (Marcia) and Michael (Crystal); nephew, Michael Hartnett (Brenda); her siblings, Erik Doremus (Marianne) and Kelly Doremus Pepper (Bill). In addition, she is survived by John's siblings, who to them, Steff was a full fledged sister, plus family in VA, grandchildren and a list that is so long; Stephanie will be remembered and her passing will leave a void that cannot be filled.
Those who would like to celebrate her life are welcome to attend a viewing on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 11 AM to 12 PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 12 PM. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Lung Association by visiting www.lung.org.
