NEWARK - Stanley L. Pinkowski of Newark passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 85.
Mr. Pinkowski was born in Wilmington, son of the late Blance and Stanley L. Pinkowski Jr.
For 35 years he worked as a welder for the Allied Chemical Co.
During World War II, Mr. Pinkowski served with the U.S. Marine Corps where he saw action at Iwo Jima.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; and his son, Stanley L. Pinkowski III.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Mischler and her husband James of Millsboro and Betty Anne Pinkowski of Pennsylvania; two sons, Richard and his wife Priscilla of Illinois and Gary and his wife Sue of Newark; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Pearl Janusz of Hockessin and Celie Broomell of Florida.
Family and friends are invited to funeral services today at 10:30 a.m. at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown roads, Wilmington, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 1502 Casho Mill Road One, Newark, DE 19711.
