GALENA, Md. - Stanley J. Cichocki, of Galena, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. He was 87.
Mr. Cichocki was born on Oct. 12, 1920, in Philadelphia, the last of seven children to survive the late John N. and Stella Kovaleski Cichocki.
He served with the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre.
Mr. Cichocki was a marine mechanic working for Sassafras Boat Co., when in the late 1960s he moved to Rhode Island and New York, returning to Kent County in 1983, where he retired from Tolchester Marina in 1995.
He enjoyed reading.
He was preceded in death by a son, Walter Cichocki.
Mr. Cichocki is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia Craig Cichocki; two sons, John Cichocki and his wife Betty of Maine and Michael Cichocki of Crumpton; a daughter, Barb Schwenk and her husband Marshall of Virginia; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call one hour prior.
Burial will be held privately.
Memorials may be offered to the Galena Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 189, Galena, MD 21635.
