Shirley M. Allen, 74

LAUREL - Shirley M. Allen of Laurel died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, in Milford Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 74.

Mrs. Allen was born in Canesville, Mo., daughter of the late Robert and Maude Booth.

She had worked at the former E.I. DuPont Co. and Bull Dog Drive Inn Restaurant in Laurel.

Mrs. Allen was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel. She was a member of the Laurel Alumni Association.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ernie Allen; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeff and Jan Allen of Laurel, Scott and Andrea Allen of Sandwich, Mass., Mike Allen and his fiancée, Christie of Laurel; a daughter and a son-in-law, Terry and Ricky Layton of Laurel; a brother, William McCain of Salisbury, Md.; six grandchildren, Jared Allen, Jenna Allen, Justin Allen, all of Laurel, Steven Layton of Laurel and Sarah Allen and Meghan Allen, both of Sandwich,; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Centenary United Methodist Church, 200 W. Market St., Laurel, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. John Van Tine will officiate.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Laurel Alumni Association, P.O. Box 382 Laurel, DE 19956.

Arrangements are by Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel.
