MARYDEL, Md. - Shirley H. Folker passed away on April 24, 2016 in Compass Regional Hospice Home, Centreville, Md., surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on Jan. 7, 1943, daughter of the late William Edgar Hunter and Annie Pearl Rowsey Bramble. She was raised in Galena where she was a 1961 graduate of Galena High School. Shirley had worked as a nurse's aide at Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital for several years until her 19 year career as a cook for the Benedictine Sisters at St. Gertrude's Monastery in Ridgley. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the United Tour Riders. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and riding her Harley. With her husband and friends they visited all 48 states on their motorcycle and toured Alaska and Hawaii. Shirley's family was always important, making time whenever needed. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bernard L. Folker, Jr.; step-father, James H. Bramble; and brother, Harry J. Bramble. Shirley is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bernard L. Folker, Sr.; daughter, Teresa Pusey (Howard), of Hebron, Md.; son, Matthew Folker (Becca VanAken), of Chestertown, Md.; brothers, William Hunter, of Millington, and Joseph Bramble (Debbie), of Galena, Md.; sister, Patricia E. Timmons of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren, Andrea, Jessie, and Abigail Folker, and Amanda (Nicholas) Pusey; and a great-granddaughter, Piper Anne Schrader. Her strong example of faith inspires us to face the trials of life with grace and dignity. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, Md. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, April 28 at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 522 Main St. Marydel, Md.
