Shirley Ann Tate

MILLINGTON, Md. - Shirley Ann Tate, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Crozure Medical Center in Upland, Pa. Shirley Ann Tate was born August 18, 1942, in Centreville, Md., the daughter of the late William Tyler and Mary 'Barnes' Tyler. Mrs. Tate was a 1960 graduate of Kennard High School. After high school she went to work for Campbell Soup Co. in Chestertown, Md., and then worked for the Tidewater Trader. She then went to work driving school buses, most recently for Jim Johnson. On March 3, 1962, she married Robert Tate. Mrs. Tate was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Chesterville and past President of the Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital Auxillary. She enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, writing and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one aunt, Grace Sutton. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert C. Tate, of Millington, Md; four daughters, Sharlina Tate of Middletown, Del., Deborah Blake of Chestertown, Md., Genel Benson and husband Darius of Waldorf, Md., Kenya Tate of Smyrna, Del.; and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Millington, MD. Burial will be held in Asbury Cemetery in Chesterville following the service.
