Sherman L. Lavender Sr.

In the late hours of December 14, 2021, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Sherman L. Lavender, Sr. went home to be with the Lord.
Sherman was a National Guard service member, he also worked for the State of Delaware as a surveyor and retired with 30 years of service. He enjoyed his career and after a short retirement went back to work serving his community as a bus driver for Paul M. Hodgson Vocational Technical School in Glasgow, Del.
Sherman lived a quiet life and enjoyed gardening and crafting. He was an active member and faithful follower at his church, Delaney New Life Worship Center, Clayton, Del. under the leadership of Brother and Pastor Doug Knieriem.
Sherman was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pearl Lavender; three brothers, Dink, Dirl, and Dwayne Lavender. He is also survived by his brother and lifelong neighbor, Dewey and his wife, Margie Lavender.
He is survived by his faithful wife of 60 years. Marie E Lavender. Also, he is survived by his daughter, Tammy M. Lavender; daughter, Holly A. Baker; and son, Sherman L. Lavender, Jr. He also is survived by nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Cemetery, 2025 Cedar Lane Rd., Middletown, DE 19709 at 12 Noon. The family respectfully ask that all those in attendance to wear masks.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to your favorite charity in memory of Sherman.
