Sharon Ann Seren

DOVER - Sharon Ann (Hayner) Seren passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 at Kent General Hospital.
Sharon was born April 15, 1949 in Gloversville, N.Y. to Lillian Brown Hayner and the late Robert Clyde Hayner.
She worked as a receptionist/secretary for Wilmington University. Previously Sharon worked for the Bank of America in Dover as a bank supervisor. After graduating from Johnstown High School, she worked as a switch board operator in Johnstown, N.Y. Before marrying her husband, Jake, and moving to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. After returning from Vietnam, Jake was assigned to Dover Air Force Base where he and Sharon retired and settled.
Sharon enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. She loved animals but most loved spending time with her grandchildren. Sharon was a two-time breast cancer survivor and supporter of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.
Sharon is survived by her mother, Lillian Hayner of Johnstown, N.Y.; her husband of 50 years, Jakob Seren of Dover; son, Jeff Seren (Shannan) of Townsend; daughter, Renee Ivy of Dover; identical twin sister, Nancy VanAuken of Johnstown, N.Y.; grandchildren, Alex, Zach, Matthew and Saige; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE 19904. Friends may call 30 minutes prior.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, 165 Commerce Way, Dover, DE 19904.
