DOVER - Dover has lost an extraordinary woman. Selma Dubyn, 90, died June 24, 2011, from complications associated with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Philadelphia in 1921, Ms. Dubyn attended West Philadelphia High School and Levitan Business School. She moved to Dover in 1956 and immediately became an active member of Congregation Beth Sholom, participating in the synagogue's Sisterhood and choir. Selma Dubyn attended Goldy Beacom College, Wilmington, where she earned her real estate license. A long-standing member of the Dover Century Club, the Newcomers Club, and the Junior Board of Kent General Hospital, she also performed with the Community Singers and Modern Maturity Center's Steppin' Seniors. Selma Dubyn is survived by her sister, Roslyn Gordon (Leonard) of North Potomac, Md.; her three daughters, Arlene Cohen Wilson of Greenville, Susan Cohen (Rob Schmuelling) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Patricia B. (Joey) Cohen (Charlie Russum) of Dover; her grandchildren, Marc Wintjen (Deb) of Newtown, Pa., and Stacy Steffen (Blake) of Bear; and her great-grandchildren, Avery and Carter Steffen and Rebecca Wintjen. A funeral will take place on June 26, at 11 a.m. at Congregation Beth Sholom, 340 N. Queen St., Dover (302-734-5578). Interment follows at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, 2928 Sharon Hills Rd., Dover.
