GEORGETOWN - Sebastian Simeone, of Georgetown, passed away on Thurs., Dec. 30, 2010, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 91. He was born in Avella Italy, the son of the late Giuseppe and Vincenza (Gragnani) Simeone. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1941 to 1945 during World War II, and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was in the battle of Normandy. For 15 years, he worked in construction for the Interstate Amesite Construction Co. He was a member of the Grace U.M. Church in Georgetown, Nanticoke Tribe # 21 of the Redman. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with friends and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise R. Simeone in 2008; sisters, Marina Sama, Giovannina Iacono; and a brother, Cusebio Simeone. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Coar and her husband Tim of Georgetown; one sister, Michelina Dearani of Long Boat Key, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Jeff Coar of Philadelphia and Megan Coar and her husband, Chris Costello of Newark. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wed., Jan. 5, 2011, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE, where friends may call after Noon. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made to: Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
