Milford - God looked down on his earthly garden and picked his fairest rose… Sarah Newnam Greene departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 at the Delaware Hospice Center surrounded by many friends. 'Sally' was born on Aug. 12, 1937, in Chestertown, Md. to John H. and Edith Coleson Newnam. She graduated from Chestertown High School. Sally is preceded in death by her husband, James Greene; daughter, Laura Greene; brother, John Newnam; and nephew, Mike Newnam. She is survived by her brother, William Newnam and nephews Thomas Hill, John Newnam and James Newnam (Zelda) along with numerous nieces and nephews. Sally retired from AT&T in Baltimore, Md. in 1998, as Manager of Occupational Employment for Delaware and Maryland. She was the Maryland State President of the Telephone Pioneers, the Soroptomists and she was also a rape counselor in Anne Arundel County, Md. Sally never met a book she didn't like and she was widely traveled. She visited Australia, Alaska, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Hawaii, France and many other countries and extensively in the United States.
