Sara Louise Devleeschouwer

FREDERICA - Sara Louise Devleeschouwer, 64, died of cancer on May 1, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at her residence outside of Frederica. Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Robinson and Arnold P. Schueler. Sara was a 1969 graduate of Seaford High School and graduated from Salisbury State University in 1974 with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Through the years, she worked in her field at People's Place, Milford Memorial Hospital and Delaware Hospice. Sara retired from Delaware Hospice after 18 years of service in 2015. She was a member of Avenue United Methodist Church, in Milford, where she played in the Bell Choir. Sara was happiest enjoying time with her husband and family in her love-filled home. Sara is survived by her husband of 22 years, Georges Devleeschouwer. Sara has five grown children, Michael Melson (Sandra), Janet Taylor, Laura Shine (Jay), Christian Melson (Chrystal) and Jeremy Melson (Erienne). She doted on her grandchildren, Gage, Kyle, Hannah, Nathan, Natalie, Nadine, Alice and Nicholas. She also is survived by one sister, Jan Lundquist; niece, Caitlin Patton; and nephew, Matthew Wasson. In Europe, she leaves her husband's three grown children and five grandchildren to remember her with love. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Karen Siegmund and Christine Wasson. A Celebration of Sara's Life will be on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 North Church Street, Milford. The family will have visitation beginning at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Delaware 19963. Arrangements handled by Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford, Delaware.
