MILFORD - Sara "Sally" L. Rottmann, of Milford, formerly of Mt. Sinai, New York, passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 62. Mrs. Rottmann was born on Aug. 21, 1946, in Uniontown, Pa., daughter of the late Dominick and Sara (Conti) Desimone. She was employed for 32 years as the director of special education with the Farmingdale School District in Farmingdale, N.Y., retiring in 2002. She was also a professor at Malloy College in Rockville Center, N.Y., working part time two years before her retirement and full time for three years after teaching classes in reading and autism. Mrs. Rottmann also gave willingly of her time and her experience in the special education field working with community service programs. She enjoyed collecting antiques and found great pleasure in cooking and entertaining family and friends. Mrs. Rottmann was a member and past president of the Port Jefferson Historical Society in Port Jefferson, New York and a member and past president of the Farmingdale Administrative Union. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Edward A. Rottmann; two sons, Andrew C. Rottmann of Mt Sinai, N.Y., and Lewis D. Rottmann of Milford; and a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Loretta Desimone of Doylestown, Pa. Services were held noon Monday, Oct. 13 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, where friends may call two hours prior. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 100 West 10th Street, Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE, 19801 or to the Port Jefferson Historical Society, P.O. Box 586, Port Jefferson, NY, 11777.
